Catena Media announces multiple board changes

By Joyce Yang

Catena Media has announced Martin Zetterlund and Stephen Taylor-Matthews as non-executive directors.

Zetterlund will replace Øystein Engebretsen, who departed Catena Media this November after serving the company since September 2018.

Based in Stockholm, Zetterlund’s previous positions include the co-founder of Sentor Managed Security Services and the role of SVP Advanced Projects at Distil Networks.

“I am looking forward to joining Catena Media's board and am eager to contribute to the growth of the business by applying my experience in technology and strategic business development,” commented Zetterlund on his new role.

Taylor-Matthews is a London-based tech entrepreneur, executive advisor and investor with over two decades of experience in online gaming, sports betting and data analytics. He is the founder of Polynate, an AI-focused company delivering sports engagement solutions, and has worked at Underdog Fantasy, GoatGaming and Betgenius in previous roles.

“Catena Media is in a transformation phase and I’m excited to be joining the board at this juncture and to contributing my industry expertise and insight,” said Taylor-Matthews.

Commenting on the departure of Engebretsen, Erik Flinck, chairman of the board of directors said: “Øystein [Engebretsen] has made a valuable and important contribution to Catena Media for more than six years. I warmly thank him for his efforts and wish him well in his current and future ventures.”

Flinck has also expressed his excitement about the new appointments and that Zetterlund will bring valuable expertise in cybersecurity and technology to the company. He also said that these are “areas that are becoming increasingly critical for Catena Media’s operations.”

Whereas on Taylor-Matthews’, the chairman of the board said that his “experience and expertise will be a valuable asset for Catena Media” as the affiliate moves forward.

Both appointments will become effective once all necessary filings are made with the Malta Business Registry and will run until the end of the next annual general meeting.

The affiliate company recently announced the layoffs of 29 team members after deciding to resize its content marketing team. Catena also in November reported a 33% drop in its Q3 revenue from 2023 down to €10.7 million (£8.92 million / $11.52 million).
