What you will be doing:
Develop and maintain complex WordPress websites using the Roots.io tech stack, including Bedrock, Sage, and Acorn.
Write and maintain HTML5, CSS3 (with Sass and PostCSS), and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
Build complex user interfaces and components using React.
Create and extend WordPress functionality through custom Gutenberg block development.
Integrate and manipulate data using REST APIs and potentially GraphQL.
Optimize websites for Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) to enhance user experience and SEO performance.
Employ performance-first techniques like code splitting, lazy loading, and image optimization.
Implement on-page SEO best practices, including technical SEO factors like schema markup.
Communicate design and development concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Mentor and collaborate with junior developers to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Work effectively within an Agile development environment, participating in regular sprints and team meetings.
Who we are looking for:
Solid foundation in frontend development: Experience with HTML5, CSS3 (including
preprocessors like Sass, postprocessors like PostCSS), and JavaScript (ES6+).
React proficiency: Ability to build complex user interfaces and components using
React.
Gutenberg block development expertise: Extensive experience creating custom
Gutenberg blocks to extend WordPress functionality.
Modern frontend tooling mastery: Familiarity with tools like Webpack, Babel, and task
runners (e.g., Gulp) is essential.
API integration experience: Familiarity with fetching and manipulating data using
REST APIs and potentially GraphQL.
Core Web Vitals optimization focus: A deep understanding of Core Web Vitals (LCP,
INP, CLS) and the ability to optimize WordPress websites for exceptional user
experience and SEO performance.
Performance-first mentality: You prioritize website speed and performance, employing
techniques like code splitting, lazy loading, and image optimization.
Mobile-first design approach: You understand the importance of mobile-friendliness
and prioritize a seamless user experience across all devices.
Responsive design expertise: Ability to build responsive layouts that adapt to different
screen sizes and devices.
SEO-first development: You integrate on-page SEO best practices into your
development process, considering technical SEO factors like schema markup.
Accessibility commitment: Experience building websites that adhere to WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
Strong version control with Git: Familiarity with Git commands and workflows is
essential.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal): The ability to clearly
communicate design and development concepts to both technical and non-technical
audiences is crucial.

Tailwind CSS experience: Ability to leverage Tailwind CSS for rapid UI development.
In-depth understanding of the Roots.io tech stack (Bedrock, Sage, Acorn): Ability
to leverage this architecture to build scalable and maintainable WordPress themes.
Experience with headless WordPress: Familiarity with headless WordPress setups
using frameworks like Next.js or Gatsby.
Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) understanding: Knowledge of using CDNs to
optimize website performance.
